Lecture and Exhibition on the Botai Culture in the City of Kokshetau
On June 6, 2024, specialists of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” organized a lecture and exhibition dedicated to the Botai culture for students of Secondary School No. 18 in the city of Kokshetau. The event was held at the Akmola Regional Museum of History and Local Lore.
The Botai site is of outstanding historical significance. According to scholarly research, its inhabitants were among the earliest representatives of nomadic civilization to domesticate the horse. Approximately six thousand years ago, the Botai people inhabited parts of the vast steppe territories of the Aiyrtau District.
During the event, students were introduced to the field of archaeology, the history and study of the Botai settlement, and the unique artifacts discovered during excavations.
Excursion to the Museum-Reserve “Botai”
On June 5, 2024, participants of the summer school camp of Saumalkol Secondary School-Gymnasium No. 2 visited the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai.”
During the excursion, museum staff shared information about the discovery, history, and ongoing research of the Botai culture. Students were also introduced to the reconstruction of ancient Botai dwellings and the process of domestication of wild horses. In addition, ancient tools and weapons used by the Botai people in their daily life were presented to the visitors.
Symbols Born of History
On June 4, 2024, staff members of the Museum-Reserve “Botai” organized a thematic excursion titled “Symbols Born of History” for children from the Aiyrtau District Center for Support of Children in Difficult Life Situations.
As part of the excursion, museum specialists introduced the children to ancient technologies and traditional methods of processing materials. The participants showed a strong interest in ancient history.
Excursion to the Museum-Reserve “Botai”
Today, May 30, the Acting Head of the Department of Culture, Language Development, and Archives of the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan Region, Sanat Amangeldievich Aubakirov, visited the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” and became acquainted with the exhibition hall of the Museum-Reserve “Botai”.
Archaeological Field Practice
The State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” annually conducts practical archaeological excavations in collaboration with students.
