Excursion to the “Botai” Museum-Reserve

Today, on June 18, 2024, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” was visited by participants of the summer camp from Secondary School No. 1 in the village of Saumalkol.

A guided tour was conducted for the children in the exhibition hall of the Botai museum-reserve.

Young Local Historians

As part of the museum project of the Akmola Regional Museum of History and Local Lore titled “Young Local Historians,” members of the club, under the guidance of senior staff of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai,” conducted a master class on archaeological excavations at the Botai settlement.

During the session, participants became familiar with the different stages of archaeological excavation work and applied this knowledge in practice.

Excursion to the “Botai” Museum-Reserve

On June 21, 2024, a thematic guided tour was conducted in the exhibition hall of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” for guests from the city of Kokshetau.

Opening of the Tourist Season in the North Kazakhstan Region

On June 15, 2024, the official opening of the tourist season in the North Kazakhstan Region took place.

The development of tourism in the region is one of the priority areas of state policy. The North Kazakhstan Region is rich in tourist attractions that are considered among the most beautiful places in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Imantau–Shalkar resort area is included in the TOP-10 priority projects of national importance and is part of the State Program for the Development of the Tourism Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2019–2025.

The picturesque nature of the Aiyrtau District is represented by mountain ranges and the water areas of Lakes Shalkar and Imantau. These lakes have clean, fresh water, with the exception of Lake Shalkar, which is well known for its healing properties.

On this day, at the Turpan recreation area of the Imantau–Shalkar resort zone, a ceremonial opening of the tourist season was held with the participation of the Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Malikovich Yerkinbayev.

The State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” organized a mobile exhibition for visitors titled Botai – Civilization of the Great Steppe,” as well as master classes on making ceramic vessels and stone discs.

This year marks the 220th anniversary of the prominent public figure Kunanbay Uskenbayevich, the father of the great poet Abai Kunanbayev. The anniversary is being celebrated in the village of Karaul in the Abai District of the Abai Region.

In this regard, large-scale festive events are being held in Karaul on June 15.

One of these events is a republican conference titled "Асыл тұқымды жылқы" within the framework of which national games such as kokpar and Kazakh kures, as well as various mobile exhibitions, were presented. In addition, a ceremony was held in which 500 children were simultaneously seated on ashamai saddles, and this event was recorded in the Guinness World Records.

As this event is dedicated to horses, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve Botai Museum-Reserve presented to the public a traveling exhibition titled “Botai – Culture of the Great Steppe.” The exhibition featured artifacts discovered at the Botai Settlement, along with demonstrations of ancient household practices through master classes.
