March 20 – National Sports Day

Today, March 20, is celebrated as the Day of National Sports. National sports are considered a true symbol of our country.

On this day, Kazakh traditional games are held. In celebration of Nauryz, various national games and competitions are organized, including altybakan, kokpar, kyz kuu, baiga, arkan tartu, kazakh kuresi, audaryspak, and others.

One of the ancient national games is toguzkumalak, which makes a significant contribution to the development of human logical thinking. National games also play an important role in strengthening health and immunity. As the folk wisdom says: “If you want to be healthy, harden yourself.” On this day, various competitions and tournaments in national sports are held.

March 18 – National Dress Day

National clothing is an important part of Kazakhstan’s culture and history. This day is dedicated to remembering the traditions and values of the Kazakh people, as well as the clothing worn by nomads, including preferred styles, designs, and fabrics.

On March 18, National Costume Day, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” organized a parade on the theme “National Costume – National Heritage.”

The purpose of the event is to modernize contemporary Kazakh fashion by promoting traditional national clothing styles.

March 16 – Day of Culture and National Traditions

This day is dedicated to promoting culture, art, and national values.

On the Day of Culture and National Traditions, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” held an exhibition dedicated to the traditional healing drink kumys, titled “Spring Kumys – The Taste of Botai.”

Visitors were able to see thematic museum exhibits and tools used in the preparation of this traditional drink, as well as taste kumys and mare’s milk prepared using both ancient and modern technologies.

The exhibition also introduced the history of kumys, its preparation techniques, different types of the drink, and its medicinal properties.

Körisu Day has deep roots in the cultural traditions of the Kazakh people. The word “körisu” means “to meet” or “to greet each other.” This day marks the beginning of spring and the awakening of nature after a long winter. People prepare for life with renewed energy and express their goodwill and best wishes to one another.
