The staff of the Republican State Enterprise “State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve ‘Botai’” of the Committee of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan carried out a tree-planting activity. The event took place on April 19, 2022, at the Botai settlement in the Ayirtau District of the North Kazakhstan Region.

The initiative had two main objectives—environmental and protective-rescue. From an environmental perspective, planting trees contributes to the creation of a favorable microclimate for the entire ecosystem, supports landscaping, and enhances the natural circulation of oxygen. From a historical and cultural perspective, the Botai settlement represents a complex of unique archaeological sites. Therefore, planting greenery helps preserve parts of the archaeological monument that are subject to gradual erosion due to natural and climatic conditions and the passage of time. In addition, the method of planting trees along a defined perimeter and in specific directions forms part of compliance with the “Rules for Defining Protection Zones, Development Regulation Zones, and Protected Natural Landscape Zones of Historical and Cultural Monuments, as well as the Regime for Their Use.”
