On 21 January, the Botai State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve held a travelling exhibition titled “Botai – The Great Steppe: Honest Labor and the Origins of Civilization” for 5th-grade students of the general education school in the village of Krasny Yar.

The students were already familiar with the Botai culture through textbooks and books, and on this day they had a unique opportunity to see authentic archaeological artefacts from the Eneolithic period in person.

During the event, the pupils were shown a video about the history of the Botai settlement, and were introduced to the significance of this culture for world history, including the first dwellings and the early domestication of the horse.

The exhibition aroused great interest, generated many questions, and became an important step in fostering children’s interest in the history and cultural heritage of their native land.
