On May 19, 2025, an exhibition of paintings by artist-restorer Yuri Borisovich Tikhonov titled “Botai – Recognized by the World” was held at Independence Square in the village of Saumalkol. The event was dedicated to May 21 — the Day of Cultural and Art Workers of Kazakhstan.

Purpose of the exhibition:
he exhibition of paintings by Yuri Borisovich Tikhonov is dedicated to May 21 — the Day of Cultural and Art Workers of Kazakhstan, as well as to the promotion of historical heritage. The uniqueness of this exhibition lies in the fact that it is a personal project, while at the same time being creatively inspired by many years of collaboration with museum colleagues and dedicated to a specific theme — the Botai culture and the equestrian civilization.

Yuri Borisovich Tikhonov is a restorer-artist in the scientific collections department of the Botai Museum-Reserve. He is deeply engaged in the illustration of artifacts, carries out restoration work on objects of artistic and historical value, and identifies the causes and nature of damage to valuable museum items.

Yuri Borisovich is distinguished by his unconventional approach to museum work. He strives to incorporate his artistic potential, creative vision, and inspiration into his creative works — paintings, restored objects, and artifacts.

We believe that the creative work of Yuri Borisovich, his devoted and wholehearted “service to the Muses,” can serve as an inspiring and motivating example for the younger generation.
