On December 6, 2024, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” organized a round table via the ZOOM platform dedicated to the memory of Professor of Archaeology, Doctor of Historical Sciences V.F. Zaibert.

Viktor Fyodorovich Zaibert was an outstanding scholar who devoted his entire life to archaeology. Thanks to his many years of work and meticulous research, the world learned about the rich heritage of the Atbasar and Botai cultures. V. Zaibert introduced the Botai culture to the global scientific community, proving that it was in this region where horse domestication first occurred. He dedicated his entire life to archaeology.

The Botai culture is considered a matrix of steppe civilization that marked the beginning of the era of horse transport in the world. V.F. Zaibert collaborated for more than 40 years with domestic and international colleagues in studying the Botai culture.

During the round table, his students, colleagues, and friends shared their memories of V.F. Zaibert and highly appreciated his role as a scientist, professor, teacher, and researcher in the world of science.

The event was attended by scientists, archaeologists, and historians who have contributed to historical science, culture, archaeology, and the preservation of Kazakhstan’s historical and cultural heritage.
