Educational Event in Zerenda

On November 14, 2024, staff of the Botai Museum-Reserve organized educational historical events at the M. Gabdullina Secondary School-Gymnasium in Zerenda village, Zerenda district, Akmola region, on the topic “Botai – Culture of the Great Steppe.”

During the event, students were given a lecture on the Botai culture, and an exhibition of unique Botai cultural artifacts was presented. Master classes on pottery making and stone disc production were also conducted as interactive elements of the ancient Botai culture.

The exhibition featured a model of a Botai dwelling, a unique artifact discovered in 1983—a human skull with traces of trepanation—as well as a bone knife, a bone harpoon, ornamented horse phalanges, and a series of stone tools from the Eneolithic period.

Events organized in this format will undoubtedly remain in the students’ memories for a long time.
