On October 23, 2024, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai,” in honor of October 25 — Republic Day, organized an exhibition at the Saumalkol Kazakh Secondary School entitled “From the Ancient Eras of the Great Steppe to the Modern History of the Republic of Kazakhstan.”

The main idea and concept of the exhibition are to reflect the richness and diversity of the historical and cultural heritage of the people of Kazakhstan, as well as to highlight the most significant historical events that took place on the territory of Kazakhstan from the earliest human settlements to the ethnographic present day. The Botai culture, as an important part of the formation and development of world civilization, belongs to the Eneolithic period and is considered a precursor to nomadism.

The goal of the exhibition is to engage the younger generation in learning about history and to emphasize the importance and significance of the national holiday — Republic Day.

The exhibition features flint tools of the Botai culture, crafted using flake technology. It also presents unique spindle whorls, which indicate the presence and development of weaving in the Botai culture. In addition, visitors can see ceramics decorated with geometric patterns typical of Eneolithic cultures of the Trans-Ural region, as well as a model of a Botai dwelling, representing an example of early engineering thought by ancient humans.

Visitors to the exhibition are also introduced to the key milestones in the history of Kazakhstan, including the Turkic period, the formation of the Kazakh Khanate, and the ethnographic present.
