On June 15, 2024, the official opening of the tourist season in the North Kazakhstan Region took place.

The development of tourism in the region is one of the priority areas of state policy. The North Kazakhstan Region is rich in tourist attractions that are considered among the most beautiful places in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Imantau–Shalkar resort area is included in the TOP-10 priority projects of national importance and is part of the State Program for the Development of the Tourism Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2019–2025.

The picturesque nature of the Aiyrtau District is represented by mountain ranges and the water areas of Lakes Shalkar and Imantau. These lakes have clean, fresh water, with the exception of Lake Shalkar, which is well known for its healing properties.
