The State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” annually conducts practical archaeological excavations in collaboration with students.

This year, an archaeological field practice has commenced at the Botai settlement for first-year students enrolled in the “History and Religion” program (Educational Program 6B02201 “History, Geography and Social Pedagogy”) of Shokan Ualikhanov Kokshetau University.

A total of 43 students are participating in the field practice, including 23 female students and 20 male students.

The students are actively engaged in the archaeological work. During the field practice, they will become familiar with archaeological sites as a unique type of historical source, as well as with the general rules of excavation and both traditional and modern archaeological methods.

Participants in the excavations will have the opportunity to study cultural layers, observe firsthand the ancient artifacts discovered during the investigation of the archaeological sites of the Botai culture, and directly handle these findings.
