
From May 23 to 25, 2024, the international scientific and practical conference “Margulan Readings – 2024,” dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Academician A. Kh. Margulan, was held in the city of Pavlodar. As part of the conference, M. S. Makeev, a research associate of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai,” delivered a presentation titled “Archaeological Field Research at the Botai Settlement in 2023.”
The conference brought together leading scholars from across the country, as well as researchers from France, Poland, Russia, Belarus, China, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Armenia, who participated both in person and remotely.
The conference format focused on the presentation and discussion of reports based on the results of archaeological fieldwork conducted in 2023, along with materials providing context within the existing scientific landscape. Particular attention was given to presentations addressing the application of new research methods, interdisciplinary approaches to the study of archaeological sites, issues of their preservation, and their use in various areas of scientific and cultural life.
