On May 21, 2024, Yu. B. Tikhonov, a restoration artist of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai,” conducted a painting master class for the residents of Saumalkol village. The event was dedicated to the Day of Culture and Art Workers, celebrated on May 21.

As Leonardo da Vinci once said, painting competes with nature. However, not every artist is able to master this challenge.

The museum’s restoration artist demonstrated how to work with paints, explaining the techniques and methods used in painting, including the use of volume and the enhancement of color. Painting is not merely a form of photography; it is a living perception. The very word “painting” implies life — the living presence of the author, the artist, as Yu. B. Tikhonov explained.
