The Republican State Enterprise “State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve ‘Botai’” of the Committee of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in accordance with a mutual agreement with the Republican State Enterprise State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Berel,” organized a traveling exhibition from July 10 to August 22, 2023. Within the framework of the 5th anniversary of the Botai State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, the exhibition was presented at the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Berel” in the Katon-Karagay District of the East Kazakhstan Region. The purpose of the exhibition was to introduce visitors to the sacred site, invaluable artifacts, and to promote the unique archaeological monument of the Botai Culture, as well as to foster a sense of love for the native land and respectful attitude toward its history and culture.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to become acquainted with the sacred site — the Botai Settlement — whose uniqueness and significance lie in the fact that it is here that, for the first time in the world, horses were domesticated, and the first dwellings of nomadic people were created. In addition, visitors were presented with invaluable artifacts discovered during excavations in the North Kazakhstan Region.

Residents and guests of the East Kazakhstan Region had a unique opportunity to become acquainted with this sacred site and the priceless artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations at the Botai settlement. More than 146 valuable exhibits dating to the Eneolithic period were presented at the exhibition.

The exhibition received wide positive feedback and was visited by 4,782 people.
