
On August 15, 2023, at the Botai Settlement in the village of Nikolskoye, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” organized a republican field seminar titled “Botai мәдениетінің мұралары – әлемдік археологияның жауһары” dedicated to International Archaeologist’s Day.
The seminar brought together archaeologists from the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad, cultural and educational workers, staff of museum institutions, historians, scientists, and teachers of geography and history.
During the seminar, participants were introduced to the results of archaeological excavations conducted in 2023 at the Botai settlement (North Kazakhstan Region) and the Krasny Yar Settlement. They also visited the excavation site of the current year and were introduced to the reconstruction of a Botai dwelling known as “Botai” (the Fisherman’s House). In addition, Professor of the University of Exeter, Director of Global Engagement and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Science and Technology of Archaeological Research (Routledge), Alan Outram, delivered a presentation on modern technologies in historical science for staff of museum-reserves in Kazakhstan, historians, teachers, and local historians.
At the end of the event, an open microphone session was held, where participants exchanged opinions, asked questions, and shared their thoughts.
