BOTAI PHOTO CHRONICLE

The Botai Museum-Reserve continues to share photographs of different periods, introducing scholars and historical figures who contributed to the study of the Botai culture, as well as images reflecting the history and natural environment of the Botai settlement.

Our first photograph captures the process of traceological analysis during the 1985 archaeological excavations at the Botai settlement. Pictured are Viktor Fedorovich Zaibert, a prominent researcher of the Botai culture, and Galina Fyodorovna Korobkova, a distinguished archaeologist and Doctor of Historical Sciences.

The photograph has been enhanced using artificial intelligence. It originates from the archives of the North Kazakhstan Archaeological Expedition (1985).

Galina Fyodorovna Korobkova was a renowned Soviet and Russian archaeologist who made a significant contribution to the development of traceology—the study of ancient tools through use-wear analysis—and to the investigation of ancient economic systems across Eurasia.
