Young Archaeologist

Since September 2025, the “Young Archaeologist” club has been operating at Saumalkol Secondary School No. 1 under the guidance of history teacher and master educator E. Zh. Bukenov. For the club sessions, E. Zh. Bukenov developed an original course program, “Botai – Cradle of Nomadic Civilization,” with a total duration of 34 hours. The program is designed for general education school students and is implemented within the framework of the subject “History of Kazakhstan.”

The aim of the program is to develop school students’ historical thinking, research skills, and interdisciplinary competencies through practical, hands-on activities conducted within the archaeology club.

The program integrates historical and archaeological knowledge and is dedicated to studying the Eneolithic era of the Botai culture in Northern Kazakhstan. Students learn archaeological methods, analyze artifacts, and conduct mini-research projects.

The novelty of the program lies in combining the history of Kazakhstan with archaeological approaches, as well as collaborating with researchers from the Botai Museum-Reserve.

The main goal is to foster interest in historical and cultural heritage while developing research and project-based skills.
